Breath of the Wild

So, my most recent game was the switch version of Breath of the Wild. Which, I have to admit, I was skeptical of before I played it. I've played a lot of Zelda games and some of them I didn't enjoy as much as the others. Many of the ones I didn't enjoy went out on a limb as far as either story or controls went, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks for example, so I was concerned about the fragility of equipment in BOTW as well as the open world concept.
I was, fortunately, pleasantly surprised when I actually enjoyed what I was getting from BOTW. The breakable equipment still sometimes frustrates me (given how quickly a lot of the weapons break) but it isn't a deal breaker for the game. Some of the shrines are a bit of a nightmare, particularly stasis based trials (see the weapons breaking as well as occasional frustration trying to aim the stupid thing) but most of them were enjoyable to figure out the answer.
Not having a specific order to do things in was pretty fun. I snuck into Hyrule castle way before I was ready to actually deal with it, just to see if I could. I ended up fighting a Yiga blademaster with only five hearts and no useful weapons because I just happened to stumble upon that fight (I won with use of the bomb rune).
I went after Vah Ruta first (which meant that I had to deal with all that led up to it). Sidon was adorable, though I still can't forgive him for getting me knocked off the bridge by a stupid moblin. He couldn't have told me sooner? Honestly, that boy just made things hard for not reason (I can ride on your back in the later section, why are you making me walk all the way there?) but he's cute so he can get away with it for the most part. Can I just say that I hate rain in that game so very much? It makes things almost stupidly annoying. Just let me climb things, even if it was just slowing you down rather than making you slip and lose almost the entirety of the progress you had made. I fought that stupid lynel on Shatterback point, which made me decide to avoid dealing with those creatures again until much further into the game. The actual divine beast section was pretty cool (minus that giant cog in the center which I had trouble getting to change directions properly for some reason). The boss fight was... interesting. I have to admit to not doing very well at the start, but eventually I got the hang of it. I adore Mipha, though her fate makes me really sad.
I'll write more about my thoughts on the game later, I should probably head up to bed soon.
